What we are all about

PGH Tutors was founded by teachers who understand the difficulties that the current education system is under. Schools are trying their best to keep everyone safe while still providing the best education they can. Parents can feel lost, frustrated, or hopeless about the future of their child's education. This is where we come in.

Each session with PGH Tutors is a 50 minute, personalized session with one student. Even if a family has more than one child, we will separate them into individual sessions so that each student can receive the attention they deserve. After creating a lesson, tutors will link up with their student at a designated time through a custom Zoom link. After a super fun and engaging lesson, tutors will provide a summary of how the student did during the session. This allows parents to see what their child is doing well in and what they may still need help with.

While PGH Tutors follows state standards, we create each lesson FOR the student that is on the other end of our screen. This allows tutors to have some unprecedented creative control in personalizing lessons to better connect with each student.

Reading / Language Arts

Grades:

Pre-K - 4th
K- 6

Qualities:

Outgoing personality
Dedicated to children's education
Calm and collected under observation and interruptions

Requirements:

Create unique, fun and engaging lessons prior to each session
Ability to adapt to each student's individual learning process and connect with them on a personal level
Provide a post-session summary illustrating what was taught and the child's daily and overall progress
Ability to communicate clearly with parents about their child's sessions and progress
Ability to suggest changes in curriculum to parents based on their child's performance
Reliable internet connection
Access to technology
Certified in your grades and subjects
Up to date child clearances
Special Education Certified is a huge plus (not required)

Availability:

Online tutoring can happen at any time. We are all teachers so we are very busy. The availability and amount of daily sessions that you are able to take is what you feel comfortable with. That being said, most tutoring sessions happen between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Availability during these times is a huge plus!
